The Glungezer is one of the favorite local mountains for the inhabitants of Hall in Tyrol. Many people know the historic old town of Hall because of its beautiful medieval alleys. Did you know that Hall in Tyrol has the largest old town in Tyrol? – People usually think of Innsbruck, but Hall’s historic old town is bigger. The beautiful ski area Glungezer above the town is also a secret gem.

Achensee
Largest lake in Tyrol
Lake Achensee lies north of Jenbach in Tyrol 929 meters above sea level. Together with the Achental, it forms the border between the Karwendel Mountains in the west and the Brandenberg Alps in the east. The Achensee, which is up to 133 meters deep, is the largest lake in Tyrol. It has excellent water quality (almost drinking water quality) with up to ten meters of underwater visibility. Typical for a mountain lake the water temperature is low and almost never exceeds 20°C. Lake Achensee is also called the Tyrolean Sea because of its size and ideal wind conditions for sailing and surfing.
